it’s that time again!! this feels a little bit like eggnog in july (in the best possible way) but here we go, it’s so you think you can dance. can you hear how i’m hitting the keys with my best english accent?
i’m so glad they listened to me and added a showcase night. nigel said my check’s in the mail.
everyone call your front-runners (and back-runners(?)) in the comments.

i just posted a handful of photos from my recent few days in nyc with erica. the trip was business for her but she added an extra day and i tagged along. she actually didn’t have to work much so i just had an afternoon and evening for photography.
the first night we stayed in brooklyn and ate at a crazy italian restaurant slash time capsule. the bar/entrance even had a cigarette machine with the pull knobs and everything. the food would have been really disappointing anywhere else but we were having such a good time in the weirdness of the place that we didn’t mind.
monday we mostly spent eating and walking between eating places. the restaurant that i stayed above in india has a franchise near the flatiron building so we tried to go there but arrived just after it had closed for lunch. we did make it back the next day for a quick bite before erica headed to her work event.
i started my running around at the flatiron building, walked to the chrysler building which i thought was my favorite building from the last trip. when i got there i realized/remembered that it wasn’t my favorite building but i couldn’t figure out which one i was thinking of. headed to grand central terminal, down to wall street, the brooklyn bridge, backtrack circle around to get onto the bridge, subway up lexington to 51st, climb the stairs to find myself looking at the building that actually is my favorite (ge building), too dark to take anything now. on to rockefeller center, elevator to the top, no tripods (grumble), elevator back down, times square craziness. back to hotel to drop off camera bag, burger and the yankees game.
brandon was kind enough to sit for me while i fumbled around and juggled (literally, i dropped something but caught it before it hit the ground) lights and try to solve problems and make weird adjustments. i spent almost the entire time trying to get rid of the black bar along the left side of the frame. i was so focused on solving that problem that i didn’t even realize until i got home that there were some pretty cool pictures.
miles: dad, those people didn’t pick up they garbage.
me: yeah, we don’t leave our trash out do we?
miles: dad, they bad people.
me: i think they’re good people who just did something not very nice.
miles: dad, some people are bad people.
me: most people are good, but yes, some people can be bad.
miles: dad, some people are bad people and some people have swords.
me: bingo.
yesterday i got to take some senior portraits of our neighbor. this was my first “test shot”. i haven’t done much shooting lately so it was fun to spend time with the camera again. i hope to do more in the near future.
1. miles to erica: mommy, i yike you. (higher pitched) a yot!
2. at the grocery store i grabbed some nutter butters for ozzie because he was losing his brain. miles insisted he didn’t want one but then grabbed one anyway then said, “hey, wait a minute! this IS good!”
3. miles: daddy, i pooped this big (arms wide open) in my pottah!!
i’m hoping that the choreographers are going to start dishing out the routines they’ve been saving for late in the season. my night would be made by something great from mandi moore, wade robson or mia michaels. i’d also be happy with a great hiphop number. you?
who is going tonight? any sytycd alumni you’re hoping to catch a glimpse of?
